Day Zero is returning to Tulum in January. ![]() The line-up is yet to be announced, but Lazarus, his Crosstown Rebels team, and the Tripping Productions are committed to throwing a no-trace policy event that includes carbon emission-offsetting, sustainable event production, and a heavy emphasis on recycling and biodegradable materials. Founder Damian Lazarus discusses the premise of his festival ahead of its tenth stint, set to take place in the jungles of Tulum. He traveled to the jungles of Tulum, Mexico, and held a party called Day Zero. Day Zero Masada: Dwellers of the Dead Sea returns on September 16th for its second year. Heady house producer and DJ Damian Lazarus saw it not as the end of things, but as a beginning. In 2019 Lazarus expanded to include Day Zero Masada, an all-night experience overlooking the Dead Sea and the Jordanian Mountains with 15,000 attendees, including desert sculptures and other art installations, and another breathtaking musical experience of Lazarus’ occuring on historical land. DJ and producer Damian Lazarus founded the estival Day Zero in 2012, inviting the electronic community to spiritually connect–described as a convergence of mysticism and music–and inviting Carl Craig, Nina Kraviz, and more, onto three stages in the ancient Mayan city of Tulum. Each moment from sunset to sunrise is soundtracked by the world’s most forward-thinking live acts and selectors, inimitably curated by Day Zero founder Damian Lazarus.
